Melijoe Trunk Show

by Kari Nyack

Last week I had the pleasure of attending the Melijoe Trunk show at a very lovely little restaurant called Bumpkin in South Kensington.

Melijoe is an online global destination for all the top designer kids fashion brands. Founder, Nathalie Genty was tired of the lack of stylish clothing for boys after her first son was born in 2003, her frustration led to a business idea and four years later in 2007 was launched.

Here are a few snapshots of my favourite pieces

Alex and Alexa SS13 Press Event

by Kari Nyack

Last week I had the pleasure of attending Alex and Alexa’s first ever press day. The event took place at The Music Room in the very prestigious Mayfair. Upon arriving I was greeted by some very lovely ladies, who escorted me through some double doors. Hit by this huge space of brilliant white, cleverly set up to reflect their online website in a three dimensional form, was a house divided into individual rooms to present each trend edit.

We begin with ‘The Wedding Boutique’, a gorgeous collection of formal wear from designers such as Suzanne Erman, I Pinco Pallino, Baby Graziella and Junior Gaultier.

Onto the next room…..Electric Avenue. A mixture of yellow fluoro, neon orange and acid pink, the idea is to be seen and heard with loud, bold acid bright colour blocks and eye-popping prints.

Cool neon shoes and accessories including Pom D’Api sandals, Rayban sunglasses, Lomography Camera’s, Parrot sandals by Stella McCartney, Fendi headbands and satchels by Pepe Jeans and Supertrash Girls.

The last trend edit ‘Summer in the City’, is catered to kids who live a metropolitan lifestyle with a stylish ‘urban’ edit of fashion and play.

‘Summer in the City’ for boys, displays lots of denim, graphic tees and colourful high tops.

Playful T-shirt with removable pieces by Stella McCartney

My favourites from ‘Summer in the City’ for girls include this nautical Junior Gaultier playsuit, fab denim shirt with tail by Scotch R’ Belle, Marni cape and these moccasin style fringed shoes by Ash.

With Champagne and Canapes on flow, the room was filled with an eagerly awaiting audience, excited for Alex Theophanous to announce the “big reveal”………

Alex and Alexa will be working in conjunction with London based charity Kids Company, the event will take place from 18th-20th March 2013! You can read more about it at

No Added Sugar to open debut store!!!!

by Kari Nyack

British childrenswear brand No Added Sugar was founded in 2001 by Deborah Meadhurst with the aim of designing high quality fashionable clothing with an urban edge for children. 11 successful years on, the brand is delighted to open their first store in the heart of London’s Notting Hill, this September.

No Added Sugar has appointed architects, Powell Tuck to create a space that stretches and surprises the eye; true to the practise’s ethos of not giving away too much at first glance. The shop will feature art installations and exhibitions from emerging British young creatives, thus creating an inspirational and changing backdrop to the contemporary collections. Located in the thriving area of Ledbury Road, the 1000sq ft groundfloor space is set to become a destination store to the area.

So what treats will be awaiting us at the grand opening?

In the year of celebrating all things British, the AW12 collection is inspired by British dandy style. No Added Sugar’s urban boys and girls aspire to be country aristocrats who play at equestrian and outdoor country pursuits. The collection presents a confident and contemporary take on a classic look but with all the hallmarks of No Added Sugar’s wit and playfulness.

For girls, modern party dresses, flippy skater skirts worn with metallic leggings.

Riding jackets in metallic or woven vertical stripes are central to the collection.

Lozenge yellow and big smoke knit in No Added Sugar’s signature woven pirate stripes.

Midnight blue tones partnered with electric coral vertically striped playsuit.

Sangria with raspberry and deep purple with lavender colour palette.

The new store opens this September 2012 at 57 Ledbury Road, London, W11 2AA. In the meantime you can shop the collection at
